Brandi Larsen
Writer, speaker and publishing strategist
Brandi Larsen is a writer, speaker and strategist. As a publishing executive at Penguin Random House she helped books become New York Times bestsellers, and as a journalist her work earned Emmy nominations. She co-wrote UNCULTURED: A Memoir (St. Martin's Press) with Daniella Mestyanek Young; it earned starred reviews in Publishers Weekly and BookPage, was recommended twice by The New York Times and was nominated for a Goodreads Choice Award for best memoir. In 2024 she was Writer in Residence at Cuyahoga County Public Library's William N. Skirball Writers' Center, where she completed her debut novel.
Her talks on publishing, leadership and purpose have reached audiences at Harvard Business School, Case Western Reserve University, Book Expo America, the Great Lakes African American Writers Conference, the Jewish Book Council Writers Conference and the Writer's Digest Annual Conference. Through her company, Brandi Larsen and Friends, she offers speaking, book coaching, publishing strategy, co-writing and ghostwriting, and leads writing retreats. She is president emeritus of Literary Cleveland, sponsors the annual Eileen Kleinert Memorial Scholarship, writes book reviews and essays, and officiates weddings for creative couples.

Lake Affect Studios is an industrial-chic wedding and event venue in Cleveland's Superior Arts District. Its 7,500-square-foot warehouse space has a full bar, hardwood floors, an outdoor patio and flexible layouts, with artist studios on site. ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
As a publishing executive at Penguin Random House, Brandi Larsen helped create New York Times bestsellers. As journalist, her efforts earned Emmy nominations. As a speaker, her talks inspired audiences at Harvard Business School, Book Expo America, Case Western Reserve University, the Great Lakes African American Writers Conference, Gilda's Club, and the Writer’s Digest Annual Conference, among others. Her work has been published in newspapers and magazines, literary journals, textbooks, industry guidelines, and online. She writes books and essays. UNCULTURED is forthcoming from St.Martin’s. Brandi is passionate about helping her community. She serves as board president of Literary Cleveland, volunteers with her local PTA, mentors caregivers through the Cholangio carcinoma Foundation, and sponsors the annual Eileen Kleinert Memorial Scholarship. In her free time, she marries creative couples. She worked alongside her father, Eric Kleinert, and manages the ultimate do-it-yourself book every household needs, Troubleshooting and Repairing Major Appliances. A Florida native, she lives near Cleveland with her family.
