Sam Skelton
Filmmaker and Lake Erie surfer
Sam Skelton is a lifestyle filmmaker and director of photography based in Cleveland. A childhood passion for surfing Lake Erie led him, almost by accident, to the healing power of the cold. In recent years research from leading institutions has affirmed what he learned through experience in the icy waves: that mental, spiritual and physical renewal waits in the cold, and that it has much to offer the people of the great northern cities.
With his brother he makes films as The Skelton Brothers, a channel about exploring the world's fresh water, from winter surfing in Cleveland to camping on frozen Lake Erie, shared on YouTube and TikTok. The brothers have appeared on the cover of Cleveland Magazine's Most Interesting issue as Lake Erie surfers.
Sam spoke on the healing power of cold at Greyt Big Talk in November 2022, at Adcom.
